Professor Tanaka is a Certified Value Specialist (CVS) and has taught VE/VM for more than 33 years in association with the Tokyo University of Science as well as in association with VE/VM conferences within North America and Asia. He is one of the pioneers of Target Costing in Japan.
He has translated various VE/VM and cost management texts into English, Chinese and Korean languages.
He has been instrumental or played key roles in creating long lasting VE/VM in cost management programs with organizations such as Canon, Cleanup Corporation, Juki Corporation and others, and has provided VE/VM services to organizations such as Boxch, Isuzu, Hyundai, and Toyota.
